College Staff Part of QCAA Review Panel

The College has been fortunate to have a number of secondary school teachers involved as Confirmers and Lead Confirmers, in the recent Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA) review.

Given the introduction of the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system back in 2019 for Grade 11, (current Grade 12 cohort), the review meeting was the first event of its kind to be held (online) in Queensland.

The panel gathered and reviewed summative internal assessment for General and General (Extension) subjects in Units 3 and 4, with their examination looking at the accuracy and consistency of teachers’ judgments during the grading of works.

These QCAA-trained Confirmers play a crucial role in ensuring fair and reliable results for students and also gain first-hand experience of the confirmation process.

By having a selection of our teachers take part in this process, the College can make better-informed decisions about the approach to assessment; it also increases teacher understanding of the new syllabuses and instrument-specific marking guides.
