 Pop-Up Art on the Oval

The sky above the College recently played host to a dazzling display of creativity, when students in Year 8 and Year 11 combined their Visual Art and Design classes, producing a pop-up art installation on the oval.

Split into mixed year groups, students had 30 minutes to plan and design a larger than life installation. Then armed with only their bodies along with coloured paper, scissors and tape, each group had a further 30 minutes to construct their art display.

Only recognisable from the air, the spontaneous collaborations filled many forms which were captured by College drones. The pictures tell the story, from the traditional floral offering to the dancing spaceman and a few abstracts in between which need an extra degree of artistic discernment, the art produced was certainly individual and exciting.

The main focus of this creative collaboration was to support students in building positive friendships. As we are nearing the end of the year, the class acted as a bridge between next year’s senior leaders and Year 9 students. The opportunity was instrumental in creating a fun and playful dialogue and bonding positive peer relationships.
