Year 2 Excursion | Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum

" I loved our excursion, I can't wait to go again."

— Isla Algie - 2A

Our Year 2 students went on a journey years gone by, when they visited the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum (BHV&M). The popular local attraction is home to a collection of early Australian heritage, dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of the old Beenleigh region.

Twenty buildings, most of them originally from the Beenleigh and Logan district, make up the village. The students were excited to be discovering history from the 1860's onward, enthusiastically embracing the hands-on, interactive and fun experiences.

Activities included visiting the Fire Engine Shed, Old Beenleigh Post Office and the Loganholme One Teacher School. One of the most popular learning elements of the day was blacksmithing; the students couldn't believe what they could make.
