Year 7 Sushi Making Class

Our Year 7 students enjoyed the opportunity to explore Japanese food and taste as part of an immersive cultural experience. The students studied a variety of traditional Japanese foods, including the time of day they are eaten and what food groups they belong to.

The highlight for students was participating in a culminating activity that included Sushi making. Using popular fillings like tuna, cucumber and chicken, they learnt how to make ‘Maki-Zushi’ or ‘Rolled Sushi’. The activity gave students the opportunity to experience the Japanese art of cooking as well as enjoying the taste of this popular cuisine.
