Indigenous Liaison Officer

Rivermount College is a non-denominational, co-educational Christian College with a vibrant and inclusive community. Established in 1992, the College caters for over 1000 students from Prep to Year 12. The College is continuing to positively expand and in 2021 a Kindergarten year will be introduced. 

The College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and highly motivated Indigenous Education Support Officer for our Primary School. This role will provide valuable assistance to Primary School teachers as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families to support improved learning, welfare and wellbeing outcomes. 

Offered as a term time contract, commencing in Term 1, 2021, the role will encompass on campus duties Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Participation in school excursions and camps may be required during the year.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Support and promote Indigenous cultural awareness for all students and staff 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of resources and learning outcomes for Indigenous students
  • Build effective relationships with Indigenous students and their families 
  • Develop strong connections with the local Indigenous community

To be eligible for this position, the successful applicant will require:

  • Previous experience in a school environment 
  • Minimum Certificate III qualification in a relevant area
  • Working with Children Clearance
  • Knowledge of the local Indigenous community
  • Proof of Aboriginality
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training

As a member of the College staff, the successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with all staff, provide cross departmental assistance if required and diligently support the College’s mission and Christian ethos.
