In preparation for the 2024 school year, Rivermount College invites applications from Secondary School teachers who are inspiring educators, committed to delivering quality learning experiences, to join our College community in 2024.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified educators who are capable of teaching one or more of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics (General and Methods)
  • Physics
  • Business
  • Legal Studies
  • English
  • Career Guidance
  • Middle School specific teachers with the ability to teach across multiple disciplines.

The role of a Secondary School teacher at Rivermount College is to maximise the engagement of students and their learning outcomes by delivering high quality teaching in a safe and supportive learning environment, whereby each student can realise their potential.

The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, resilient, and optimistic educators who build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues and collaborates with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver effective teaching and learning programs for every student in allocated classes, which are aligned with national, state and College guidelines.
  • Mark, assess and moderate students’ work in a timely manner and maintain accurate records in relation to each student's progress.
  • Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs.
  • Attend and conduct parent/teacher interviews and information evenings as required.
  • Develop cooperative relationships and work as part of the team to achieve the aims and objectives of the College.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required in a thorough and punctual manner.
  • Actively participate in the College’s co-curricular program.
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Education or a degree/qualification with a Postgraduate Teaching Qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience, particularly in the delivery of QCAA curriculum.
  • Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience teaching in the secondary years, and a thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, with proven effectiveness. benchmarked against the AITSL Professional Standards for teachers.
  • Appropriate ICT skills and preparedness to integrate ICT skills and differentiation as part of student learning.
  • Effective behavioural management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • An enthusiastic, self-motivated and professional attitude.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
