A Magical Visit from Rivermount’s Very Own Tooth Fairy

It is not every day you get to meet a tooth fairy, and it is even more special when that tooth fairy is a former Rivermount College student! Dr Hannah Grace, a proud Rivermount alumnus, recently returned to the College to present Tooth Fairy Talks to our Year 1 students. Dressed for the occasion and full of fun facts about dental hygiene, Hannah delighted students with her warmth, knowledge, and a touch of musical magic.

While she was back at school, we talked to Hannah about her memories of RMC and exactly how she became the Tooth Fairy.

During Year 10 at the College, Hannah joined the Vocational Education Training program and completed work experience at a veterinary clinic. Though she initially considered becoming a vet, she soon realised the profession wasn’t quite the right fit. It was then that her interest turned to dentistry.

After graduating from Rivermount, Hannah went on to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science at Griffith University. She graduated with a Master of Dentistry with Distinction and received the award for Academic Excellence. Dentistry is a career she has since embraced with passion and dedication, and she now owns the YV Dental Surgery in Yarrabilba. In addition to her work as a dentist, Hannah is also a talented musician. On weekends, she performs gigs with fellow artist and current RMC teacher, Mr Jack Griffith, a creative outlet that began during her school years.

Reflecting on her time at Rivermount, Hannah says she remembers a nurturing environment that helped her academically, musically and socially - from on-stage performances (once dressing up as an elf) to the support of teachers like Mr Adam O’Connor, who always encouraged her love of singing. Among other notable achievements, Hannah was College Captain, Dux of the Secondary School, and Contemporary Musician in her Senior Year of 2015. She keeps in touch with many of her former classmates and credits the College with helping build her self-belief and nurturing her talents.

Hannah’s return as a tooth fairy was not only a magical moment for our young students but a proud one for the Rivermount community.
