The College was proud to celebrate the recent NAIDOC Week, a national event that acknowledges the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year marks 50 years of celebration, and the theme, 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision, and Legacy,' recognises the achievements of the past and the bright future ahead.
Over the week, Secondary students enjoyed cultural sessions led by Uncle Robin, exploring traditional fire starting, storytelling, and artefacts. Lunchtime gardening at the Neville Bonner Centre provided a space for students to contribute to the College's cultural garden, fostering a connection between land, learning, and sustainability.
Year 3 to 6 students joined in the celebrations with Deadly Choices Cultural Games, participating in interactive outdoor activities that celebrated Indigenous culture and community spirit. The younger cohorts expressed their creativity through an array of cultural arts and crafts.
The celebrations culminated in a Day on the Green, featuring live entertainment, face painting, games, and a sausage sizzle.
