Two teams of talented Year 8 to 10 students from our RMC Sports Academy recently represented the College to compete at the prestigious Year 9 to 10 Volleyball All Schools Cup, featuring more than 350 teams from over 170 Queensland schools. Our boys’ and girls’ squads competed in the Year 10, Division 2 competition, requiring many of our younger athletes to play above their age group and experience level.
Throughout the weekend, our athletes displayed exceptional skill, resilience, and determination, with the younger players showing great promise for the future of volleyball at the College.
The highlight of the tournament came from our girls’ team, who progressed to the Gold Medal Match, and a first for the College at this level! Facing an unbeaten opponent, the students produced one of the most exciting matches of the weekend. After a tightly contested battle, they narrowly fell 17–15 in the deciding set to secure an outstanding Silver Medal finish. This result marks the first medal achieved by an RMC girls’ volleyball team and an important milestone for our growing volleyball program.
Thank you to the parents and supporters whose energy and encouragement created an incredible atmosphere throughout the weekend. We look forward to seeing our athletes continue to develop within the RMC Sports Academy. Go RMC!
