The Brisbane Secondary All Schools Competition (BSAS) is a specialised touch football event that attracts the interest of school teams from regional Brisbane. The annual event provides valuable opportunities for teams and players to enhance their football skills and game-time experience in the lead up to State competition.
Five dynamic student teams represented the College at this month’s BSAS Competition in Rocklea, showcasing exceptional skill and determination. We are incredibly proud of their efforts, which resulted in three teams advancing to the final rounds.
Fielding a smaller squad than many of their opponents, our Under 13 Boys team were determined to reach the semi-finals with only eight players. The boys made it over the try line an impressive 36 times and advanced to a semi-final showdown against Mueller College, finishing in fourth place overall.
The Under 13 Girls also took on the competition with eight players, a squad full of resilience, and a never-give-up attitude! After their five-game draw, the girls finished fifth place in their pool and eleventh overall.
Fielding a team with mixed levels of experience, the Under 15 Boys scored three very impressive wins and 32 tries. They ended the competition in fourth place in their pool and eleventh overall.
Our Under 15 Girls enjoyed a standout competition, finishing second in their pool with four wins from five fixtures, and only eight players in the squad. They went on to a thrilling quarter-final game against Brisbane Girls Grammar, narrowly falling short 3-4, despite an incredible defensive effort.
Successfully reaching the finals and making it through nine challenging games against some of the state’s most competitive teams, the Under 18 Mixed team demonstrated impressive defensive and offensive skills with 43 tries scored. They finished the competition in a semi-final showdown against Kenmore State High School.
Across the weekend, RMC played 33 games, recording 18 wins, two draws, and scoring an impressive 158 tries, with only one team finishing with a negative for-and-against.
This debut in the Brisbane competition serves as a powerful springboard for our teams as they now prepare for the Queensland All Schools tournament in October. We look forward to following their success.
