In the final week of Term 3, a group of 24 Senior students embarked on the unforgettable Japan Outbound Tour, visiting sites across Tokyo, Fujisawa, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Osaka and Kyoto.
More than a sightseeing trip, this Tour provided students a unique opportunity to form genuine connections with Japanese host families through their homestay arrangements. Students practised their Japanese language skills, immersed themselves in a different culture, and built international friendships.
During the 17-day adventure, the travellers excitedly cheered their way onto the big screen at a Yakult Swallows baseball game, watched sumo wrestling, and enjoyed the thrills of Universal Studios Japan! A special highlight was their stay at a traditional ryokan on Miyajima Island, where the students wore yukata, enjoyed a traditional multi-course meal and slept on futons in tatami rooms.
At the heart of the Tour was the continued strengthening of the College’s valued partnership with Nichidai Fujisawa, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and authentic language learning. This partnership provides a safe, supportive environment for students to travel internationally with confidence.
A special thank you to our dedicated staff, who organised this incredible experience, travelled alongside our students, and ensured everyone remained safe, supported, and well cared for throughout the journey.
This biennial event is a wonderful reminder that learning a language opens doors to new experiences, lifelong friendships and a world of possibilities, all while creating memories that will last long after suitcases are unpacked.
