Congratulations to our talented Year 9 Drama students, who recently took home Best Ten-Minute Play at the Beenleigh Festival of One Act Plays.
Working alongside industry professional Elly Squire from the Australian Acting Academy, students spent five workshops developing their skills in clowning, comedy and performance before creating their original production, Out Take. The delightfully quirky comedy follows the antics of a fast-food sandwich shop managed by a rat named Stacey.
The adjudicators praised the production for its creative concept, confident use of stage business without dialogue, inventive puppetry, and the clever use of sandwich costumes, which were repurposed from the College’s 2024 musical production of Freaky Friday.
Hosted by the Beenleigh Theatre Group for more than 30 years, the festival is one of South-East Queensland's leading one-act play competitions, providing aspiring performers and theatre makers with valuable opportunities to showcase their talents.
