Year 10 and 12 History students recently stepped back in time for an engaging excursion to the Abbey Museum near Caboolture.
The highlight of the visit was a hands-on mock archaeological dig, where students uncovered artefacts from a simulated Ancient Egyptian site. Working like real archaeologists, they carefully excavated objects and learned how evidence from the past is discovered, recorded and interpreted. After the dig, students explored the museum’s extensive collection, travelling through thousands of years of history, from Paleolithic and Neolithic artefacts over 10,000 years old, to items from ancient civilisations, medieval societies and even the 18th and 19th Centuries.
The day brought history to life, giving students the chance to experience how the past is uncovered and preserved.
