From Rocks to Living Things: Year 3’s Day of Discovery at Paradise Country

Last week, our Year 3 students took their science learning beyond the classroom with an exciting excursion to Paradise Country on the Gold Coast.

Providing a hands-on conclusion to the students’ Term 2 learning about the properties of soils, rocks and minerals, students participated in gold and opal mining activities, engaging with geological concepts in a fun and memorable way.

The day also provided an exciting introduction to the cohort’s Term 3 studies on the characteristics of living and non-living things. Students had the opportunity to observe animals and plants up close, exploring how living things grow, change and move through different life cycles.

It was a wonderful day of exploration, discovery and excitement, allowing students to connect their classroom learning with the world around them.
