From Top End to Japan; RMC Secondary Students broaden their horizons on Tour

In support of growing connections and enhancing their life skills, our students are offered the opportunity to participate in a selection of awe-inspiring adventures throughout the year. The recent Far North Queensland (FNQ) Tour and the Japan Tour are two such opportunities for Senior students.

This year, 19 eager participants from Year 10 to Year 12 had the privilege of experiencing the wonders of the rainforest blending with the sea, where they were treated to unique customs and breathtaking sights as part of the FNQ Tour. Our travellers explored Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Black Mountain, Cooktown, Black Rock, Shipton Flats, and Izabella Falls. Each of their stops offered a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the area.

On their visit to the Wujal Wujal community, students were given an exclusive welcome by the local Indigenous community and learnt first-hand about their traditions, history and aspirations. The group then ventured to Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef for more sightseeing and unique opportunities.

The FNQ Tour is designed with a focus on service and gratitude to foster a sense of unity and appreciation within the group. Each day, the bonds between the students grew stronger as they faced and worked through challenges together. Through their shared experiences they were able to create precious memories.

When travelling aboard, nothing beats vibrant culture, friendly people, stunning landscapes, and mouth-watering food, all which Japan has to offer! A group of 15 Year 12 students recently travelled abroad to experience authentic Japanese family life through homestay and spent time at our sister school, Nichidai Fujisawa as part of the Japan Outbound Tour.

During the trip, students explored ancient temples in Kyoto, admired the vibrant charm and culture of Asakusa, Shibuya and Harajuku, and embraced the bustling city life of Tokyo, fully immersing themselves in the rich heritage and Japan’s modern marvels. They visited the Imperial Palace, Universal Studios and Hiroshima, and engaged in traditional activities including Karaoke, Judo, Karate, kendo, and calligraphy.

The valuable time spent with their new friends and peers enabled our students to create lifelong memories and experiences they will cherish for years.
